Accounting Manager

Description:

The qualified candidate will assist the Director of Accounting and is responsible for one of the functional areas such as financial accounting or budgetary planning and control. Coordinates and directs personnel involved in detailed accounting entries and internal/external financial reporting.

Duties:

Provides accurate and timely financial statements to the Director of Accounting and management.
Coordinates annual audit and assists the Director of Accounting in the preparation of annual audited financial statements, as needed.
Provides management with support and guidance with respect to financial results and variance analysis per deadlines.
Reviews and maintains the general ledger system for accuracy and compliance with reporting standards.
Reviews the preparation of the reconciliation and roll forward of records pertinent to the general ledger.
Performs special projects as requested by the Director of Accounting.
Directs daily activities of the direct reports and communicates organizational information, goals and policies to the accounting staff directly reporting to the position.
Assists in the preparation of and maintenance of operating and capital budgets.

Qualifications:

BS/BA degree in Accounting.

CPA or Masters in Accounting or Business Administration preferred. Will accept additional years of experience in lieu of this requirement.

Minimum of 7+ years accounting experience, preferably in a health care setting.

Two or more years of public accounting auditing experience is preferred.

At least 2 years of supervisory/management experience.

Strong management skills including motivating and mentoring people at all levels, training both Finance staff and organizational managers, establishing departmental policies and procedures and managing human resource issues of staff supervised.

Solid understanding and application of GAAP.

Proficient in the advanced use of Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and general ledger and related subsystems databases (Solomon, Ultipro and Suncoast Solutions, preferred).

Ability to take initiative, work with little supervision and solve problems independently.

Team player and self-starter who is accurate and detail oriented.
